Trying to avoid the "Big One" today. As I stated yesterday, I really don't care for restrictor plate racing on superspeedways but I do like some plays they have out there for this race.
Match-Ups
4.00 units Travis Kvapil (-105) over Paul Menard (@thegreek)
Biggest play for me so far this season. Combination of things here. Really like Yates at Daytona/Talladega they always seem to have a good superspeedway program. Kvapil seems to do best on this type of track. Got caught up in some stuff at Daytona this year but in '05-'06 driving for Roger Penske and Cal Wells finished Top 20 every time out. Also in the truck series ran well at these places.
Menard on the other hand struggles for whatever reason. In three Cup starts at Talladega: 38th, 43rd, and 34th.
3.00 units Tony Stewart (-135) over Jeff Gordon (@sportsbook.com)
Simply stated I like Stewart for the sweep this weekend.
2.00 units Carl Edwards (-120) over Matt Kenseth (@bodog)
Edwards has been strong since the first practice this weekend, having a championship type season so far and after a slow start early in his career has adapted well to the superspeedways.
Kenseth has been up and down this weekend, qualifying fairly well but struggling in the draft a bit. His 2008 has been the same way, four Top 10's but also three finishes of 30th or worse.
1.00 unit Martin Truex (-120) over Greg Biffle (@bodog)
Biffle is a bad luck shleprock on superspeedways. Last five races at Talladega, his best finish is 23rd. Not going to buck that trend despite Biffle having a great year.
Truex has done well here, two Top 10's out of three.
